Hello,

Daniel Kelly, a writer based in Somerset, is sat on a deckchair and fixated in an immersive Van Gogh experience in Bristol.

I’m Daniel Kelly — cultural omnivore, landlord to two cats in Somerset, content and communications strategist for hire, and writer.1

Read my creative stuff.

I write a seasonal letter about the creative things I’ve enjoyed recently, as well as pitching book and film reviews for publication.2

I’m open to hearing from publications, publishers, and studios who think they may have something I’d be interested in.

Let’s work together.

I’ve donned many hats to make ends meet.

Favourites include leading vaccination comms for an NHS trust during the pandemic, being an empathy consultant for one of the world’s biggest banks, managing the marketing & events programmes for the UK’s oldest bookshop and one of the world’s oldest film schools, and being an award-winning content strategist and writer for Somerset-based agencies.3

Nice things people have said.

Daniel’s an incredible asset to our team. From copywriting and digital marketing to grassroots outreach and all the small jobs that go with event management, his support was essential and helped us reach new heights in attendance. He’s wonderful to work with, an excellent writer, and brings both passion and intelligence to the projects he works on.

Jen Nedbalsky-Neal — Deputy Director, Human Rights Watch Film Festival

Daniel believed I had something worth saying, and did an exceptional job of working with me to show that in our content. He goes the extra mile — not out of obligation, but because he cares about making a real impact. He’s responsive, wonderfully creative, and a joy to work with."

Amy Still — Founder & Director, Whisk

We think you’re ace.

I’m based in the cobbled town of Frome, with my forest (Boudica) and American ringtail (Marceline) cats — the loves of my life. (My partner lives here, too.) I’m constantly curious, love reading & watching & listening to as much as culture has to offer, received an ADHD diagnosis just after I turned 30, enjoy travelling through Europe, fundraising for causes I care about, subtitles [even when it’s in English], and the Oxford comma — dashes and occasional italics, too. My daydream is to one day make a living by welcoming people into my private library / cat café / cinema, while writing short stories.

This is a new venture for me, hence being quite brief. Stay tuned!

I have a master’s degree in geopolitics, read & watch & listen to all sorts of creative stuff every day, and have worked as a full-time employee, contract worker, and freelancer in a broad range of creative roles. The primary areas I’ve worked in, up to senior management positions, include: marketing, communications, content, copywriting, PR, and events.

My previous clients include: NHS, Hatchards & Waterstones, London Film School, Lloyds Banking Group, Publitek (PR & marcomms agency), Whisk (community advertising agency), IGC (University of Oxford & LSE research centre), Mayor of London, Human Rights Watch Film Festival, and a number of other charities and higher education institutions.
